North Allegheny impressive in sweep of Seneca Valley

Another opponent, another sweep for North Allegheny. Rinse and repeat. The Tigers swept Seneca Valley with the girls winning 105-73, and the boys 101-71.

Juliet Hood (311.90) and Maggie Lapina (273.95) placed first and second in the girls diving event. 

Ethan Maravich (245.40), Colin Metzger, and Nathan Rak finished in that order for the boys, with no divers competing for the Raiders. Both Metzger (189.70) and Rak (170.65), posted qualifying scores for the WPIAL diving championships.

Onto the swimming events and the Tigers posted a one-two finish and a sweep in the 200-medley relay. Dani Hinkson, Tori Tieppo, Eva Ogden, and Julianne Weaver won for the girls with a time of 1:49.12. Gus Miller, Danny Lesinski, Mason Shantz, and Grant Regule posted a winning time of 1:36.17 for the boys.

Julia Tengowksi (1:57.56), Evey Masztak (1:59.47) finished top two in the 200 free for the girls. Talon Xing (1:49.94) placed first for the boys.

In the 200 IM, Hinkson (2:08.68), birthday girl Shelby Sundgren (2:14.12) and Tieppo (2:15.82) swept the girls race. Dylan Seiford (2:03.79) was victorious for the boys.

Madden Woycheck (24.85) and Odin Hsu (22.88) were the winners in the 50 free, while Ogden (57.93), Angelina Li (59.50), and Natalie Reubi (1:01.06) swept the 100 butterfly for the girls. Lesinski (52.43), Regule (55.19) and Jackson Ross (58.85) did the same in the boys event.

Woycheck (55.16) and Miller (47.91) were victorious in the 100 free events. 

In the 500 freestyle, Claire Bacu set a pool record with a winning time of 4:56.99. Emmanuel Chu (4:57.90) finished first on the boys side. 

The 200 freestyle relays were the final two-point scoring events for North Allegheny. Weaver, Ogden, Woycheck and Bacu (1:38.60) and Lesinski, Alex Harbaugh, Seiford and Dillon Thyen (1:32.60) were the winning teams for the Tigers.

 In exhibition events, Hinkson (59.09), Li (1:00.34) and Macey Wenzel (1:03.31) finished top three in the 100 back. Miller (50.56) and Shantz (58.52) were the top two finishers for the boys.

Sundgren (1:08.49) grabbed second place in the 100 breast, while Harbaugh (1:02.86), Regule (1:03.38) and Xing (1:05.81) swept for the boys.

The Tigers won both 400 free relays to cap off the night. Bacu, Tengowksi, Hinkson and Ogden (3:37.96) were winners for the girls. While the boys winners were Chu, Tabari Morgan, Ross and Zachary Totin with a time of 3:23.75.

The Wright Automotive Players of the Meet for each team were awarded to Madden Woycheck and Gus Miller.

The junior Woycheck took home victories in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while contributing to a second-place finish in the 200-medley relay and a win in the 200-freestyle relay.

Miller, a senior, swam the first leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay for the boys. He won the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke events, with the second win being a personal best. He capped off his evening by swimming the anchor leg on the second place 400-yard freestyle relay team.

North Allegheny is at Pine-Richland next Thursday February 6th, before returning home to complete section competition against North Hills on the 13th.
