North Allegheny survives late rally, defeats North Hills 2-1

Posted on:

North Allegheny entered Thursday in a tight section race. They were tied with Fox Chapel at the top with 4-1 records and North Hills was a game behind at 3-2. The Tigers traveled to North Hills for an important section matchup and NA was able to get some separation from North Hills in the standings, with a 2-1 win over the Indians at Martorelli Stadium.

Things couldn’t have started any better for the Tigers as in the first minute, Nathan Katari drove to the corner and fed Zach Nash a great pass that Nash would score on and just like that the Tigers led 1-0. It was another early goal to start the second half as two minutes into the half, Nash would score again when Lucas Henderson found Nash on a long throw. Nash was able to head the ball to the far post and NA led 2-0.

North Hills would make it interesting, scoring with 20 minutes remaining in the match to make the score 2-1. The Indians would continue to threaten down the stretch but the NA defense and keeper Ryan Young held strong to close out the 2-1 victory. Young made five saves.

North Allegheny improves to 9-2-1 overall and 5-1 in the section. North Hills falls to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in section play. The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday when they host Hampton at Newman Stadium at 1:00 p.m. in a non-section contest. This match will be broadcasted on the NA Sports Network.
