North Allegheny Stops Seneca Valley Raiders

The North Allegheny swim team returned home with a boys and girls win over the Seneca Valley Raiders.  The boys’ team won all events in their 101 – 77 victory.  The girls won all events except the 100 Breast in their 103 – 78 victory.

The boys were led by Matthew Kuhn who had wins in both the 200 Free and the 500 Free.  Jack Wright won the 200 IM, Eben Krigger touched first in the 50 Free and Maxwell Gonzalez touched first in the 100 Fly. Thomas McCaffrey won the 100 Free and Ricky Mihm won the 100 Back.  Andrew Zhang finished the individual events with his win in the 100 Breast.  The boys continued to control the relay events by again winning all 3 relays.  The 200 Medley Relay team of Ricky Mihm, John Ehling, Mason Gonzalez and Eric Staab narrowly beat the NA “C” Relay team.  North Allegheny finished in the top three spots in the 200 Free Relay.  Ethan Song, Mason Gonzalez, Jack Wright and Audric Pastor led the “C” team over the second place NA “B” team and third place “A” team.  Audric Pastor, Brett Edwards, Jack Wright and Richard Jensen finished first in the 400 Free Relay followed by NA “C” and “B” teams.

The girls started the meet strong with Torie Buerger, Ann Juneau, Aimee Verardi and Anna Verardi winning the 200 Medley Relay.  Kristine Mihm then led Mary Flavin and Megan Christy in sweeping the 200 Free.  Ann Juneau, Lila McGrath and Anna Verardi then followed with a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 IM.  Lauren McGrath won both the 50 Free and the 100 Free. Torie Buerger won the 100 Fly and the 100 Back. Kristine Mihm swam to a 500 Free victory.  Anna Verardi, Ann Juneau, Kristine Mihm and Lauren McGrath won the 200 Free Relay and the team of Aimee Verardi, Lauren McGrath, Kristine Mihm and Torie Buerger finished the girls night with a 400 Free Relay win.

Maddie Mianzo finished first in the girls diving competition while Nathan Zeigler’s second place finish led the NA boys divers.

The next meet is at home on Thursday, February 9, against Butler.  This is Senior Night and the meet begins at 5PM.
