Third-Ranked NA Scores Big Road Win Over No. 4 Pine-Richland
The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team earned a hard-fought road victory on Monday night over the Pine-Richland Rams, 55-50. The Lady Tigers trailed 33-30 entering the final quarter but struck back to outscore the Rams in the final stanza, 25-17, for the comeback victory.
The Tigers turned up the intensity on defense in the second half and forced Pine-Richland into 12 turnovers. Senior Abby Gonzales led the charge for the Tigers with three steals and 13 points, all of which coming in the fourth quarter. Senior Taylor Lake notched a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and sophomore Piper Morningstar tallied 10 points with two 3-pointers.
Pine-Richland was paced by Amanda Kalin who scored a game-high 18 points. Gianna DeTemple poured in four 3-pointers for 12 points, including three treys in the third period. Chelsea Rourke picked up a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.
With the win, North Allegheny remains undefeated in Section 3-AAAA play with an 8-0 mark and a 13-3 record overall. Pine-Richland dips to 11-4 overall and 4-3 in the section. The Lady Tigers host Hampton on Saturday in a non-section game at 7:00 pm.
