Tigers Blow Away Golden Tornado, 60-22
The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team trounced the Butler Golden Tornado on Monday night in a Section 1-6A contest, 60-22. The Tigers opened up a 31-10 lead by halftime and coasted to the win in the second half.
North Allegheny poured in seven 3-pointers as ten different Tigers scored in the rout. Sophomore Lizzy Groetsch paced the Tigers with 15 points and senior Rachel Martindale netted 10 points, including two 3-pointers.
For Butler, Ali Altman and Julia Gibson led with just six points each.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 19-1 overall and 12-1 in Section 1-6A. Butler falls to 7-11 overall and 3-9 in section play. The Tigers will host North Hills on senior night this Friday at 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
