Tigers compete at Calvin Behm Memorial Tournament
The North Allegheny boys and girls water polo teams competed at the Calvin Behm Memorial Classic in Erie, PA at Erie Cathedral Prep High School. Both teams went 1-2 on the weekend with both of them dropping matches on Friday before going 1-1 on Saturday.
On the boys side, the Tigers lost a thriller to Upper Dublin 6-5 on Friday night. Tabari Morgan had two goals and two steals in the matchup for the Tigers. Grant Regule also had two goals. Mason Shantz added a goal and two steals. Mike Stefanko made nine saves in the match.
On Saturday, NA defeated Wissahiken by a score of 11-5 before falling to North Penn, 7-5 in double overtime. Against Wissahiken, Caden Currykosky led North Allegheny with four goals in the match. Filip Malezanov, Regule and Morgan all had two goals. Morgan added four steals defensively. Bryce Miller netted a goal and two steals. Stefanko had 13 saves. Against North Penn, Currykosky had three more goals to go along with four steals. Malezanov and Callan Bunger each added goals. Morgan had five steals in the match while Stefanko added five saves.
For the girls, the Tigers fell to Upper Dublin 11-4 on Friday. Lily Tang had two goals and three steals for NA. Tori Tieppo and Mikaela Dassanaike each had a goal. Tieppo had two steals. Katherine Vales made four saves in goal.
On Saturday, North Allegheny defeated Wissahiken 8-7 in their first match. Bella Spino found the back of the net five times while Tieppo had two goals. Tang had the other goal along with three steals. Vales made eight saves. In the second match, the Tigers fell to North Penn 7-2. Spino had both goals. Dassanaike and Ava Sharar played well defensively collecting four and two steals respectively. Vales made five saves.
The NA boys now have a record of 6-2. The girls record is now 3-4. The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday when they return to Erie to take on McDowell.
