In what originally was to be a section matchup, but due to recent events involving City League teams and the WPIAL in soccer, this match turned into a final week non-section tune-up where North Allegheny took care of business, defeating Allderdice 6-2.

Kieran Shannon picked up the first two goals of the match, her 6th & 7th of the season, in the 7th and 12th minute to stake the Tigers to a 2-0 lead.

Less than a minute after her second goal, Avery Ruffus scored the first of her two goals in the game from distance, and the score stayed 2-1 Tigers until halftime.

North Allegheny wasted little time putting their foot on the gas pedal in the second half. It was Shannon again providing the spark, racing down the right wing, and feeding Rowan Barsotti for her third goal of the season just :20 into the half.

Shannon notched the first hat trick of the season for North Allegheny, converting a corner kick opportunity in the 46th minute to make it 4-1.

Aubrey Wells found a loose ball at the near post in the 53rd minute and found the net for her third of the year, and when Averie Bierker’s cross bounced off a Dragon defender and into the net ten minutes later, the Tigers had built a commanding 6-1 lead.

Ruffus notched her second goal late in the half to finish out the scoring.

The sophomore Shannon, who scored 15 goals last season for the Tigers, was awarded the Wright Automotive Player of the Game, for her three goal one assist performance.

North Allegheny, who has already qualified for the playoffs, improved to (10-5-1) with the win. The Tigers have one more regular season contest remaining, hosting Montour on Wednesday night, in a match that will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.

The Tigers will already know their playoff path prior to that game, as the WPIAL soccer brackets will be announced earlier in the day on Wednesday.
