In a matchup between two playoff bound teams in Class AAA, the North Allegheny Tigers dropped a 2-1 decision to the Pine-Richland Rams on Wednesday night in Gibsonia.

Similar to their meeting on Sept. 30 at Newman Stadium, the game was again tightly contested. The North Allegheny defense hung tough, but the undefeated Rams took a 2-0 lead on second and third period goals from Boston University commit, Ella Rottinghaus.

North Allegheny rallied back in the fourth quarter and trimmed the deficit to 2-1 when senior Jordan Richards scored on a penalty corner with 7:54 remaining in the game. Unfortunately, the Tigers couldn’t not come any closer as the Rams earned the win, 2-1.

North Allegheny drops to 8-4-1 overall and 7-3-1 in Section 1-AAA. Pine-Richland concludes section play with a 12-0 mark and enters the playoffs as the No. 1 seed. The Tigers will be the No. 3 seed in the upcoming WPIAL playoffs and will take on second-seeded Peters Township on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
