Tigers drop tough non-section test at Shaler

Posted on:

North Allegheny traveled to Shaler High School on Saturday afternoon to take on a tough Shaler Titans team in non-section play. Even though it was a non-section contest, it was a heated battle but the Tigers ultimately fell by a score of 48-44.

NA jumped out of the gates ready to go blitzing Shaler and jumping out to a 13-8 lead after a quarter of play. Shaler settled down in the second quarter to cut into the deficit but the Tigers still led 23-20 at halftime.

The third quarter was where the Titans would make their push outscoring North Allegheny 18-12 in the period and gained control of the game as the Tigers trailed 38-35 going into the fourth quarter. In the final frame, Vange Balouris did her best to keep the team in it scoring all nine of the Tigers’ points in the period but it wasn’t enough as NA fell 48-44.

Balouris finished with 26 points. Leah Skweres added seven points.

North Allegheny falls to 5-8 overall. Shaler improves to 13-2. The Tigers have a little time off before returning to the court on Friday when they take on first-place Seneca Valley at 6:30 p.m. at UPMC Court. This will be apart of a girl/boy doubleheader and will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
