Tigers Earn 10th Straight Section Title On Senior Night
On Senior Night, the North Allegheny girls’ basketball team secured an outright Section 1-6A title with a 60-10 win over North Hills on Friday Night at UPMC Court. It’s the 10th consecutive section title for the Tigers.
Before the game, seniors Emma Fischer and Taylor Rawls were recognized and North Allegheny provided a fine senior send off in the section finale. The Tigers wasted little time asserting their dominance and jumped out to a 27-0 lead early in the second quarter before the Indians finally cracked the scoreboard.
Eight different players scored for North Allegheny, led by junior Mia Tuman who netted a game-high 14 points off the bench. Fischer posted 13 points and buried a trio of treys on her way to Wright Automotive Player of the Game honors. Rawls added six points and two 3-pointers as both seniors made their mark on the contest. Sophomore forward Lydia Betz tallied eight points and junior Jasmine Timmerson added seven points as the Tigers cruised to the outright section crown.
North Allegheny improves to 19-1 overall and finishes the section slate with a 13-1 record. North Hills ends the year with a 1-21 record and 0-14 section mark. The Tigers return to action Saturday afternoon for a non-section matchup with Oakland Catholic at 12:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
