Tigers Edge USC, 2-1, On Chidester’s Game Winner

North Allegheny scored two goals in the third period, including a game winner by Erik Chidester with 29 seconds remaining, to capture a 2-1 victory over the Upper St. Clair Panthers on Tuesday night.

After a scoreless first period, Upper St. Clair took a 1-0 lead on a short-handed goal by Alex Gialames at the 3:08 mark of the second period.  North Allegheny answered back in the third on a tally by Cameron Fisher to tie the game at 1-1 with 5:42 elapsed in the period.  With game deadlocked, the Tigers earned the victory in regulation thanks to the heroics of Chidester with 29 seconds to play. Joseph Zappia III assisted on the game winning marker.

The Tigers used a stingy defense to limit shots on net and scoring chances for the Panthers.  NA’s Joe Hubert got the start in net and stopped 13 of 14 shots.  Adam Seeton made 20 saves for USC.

North Allegheny regains first place in the Class AAA standings with the win, improving to 12-2-2 on the season.  Upper St. Clair drops to 6-10-1 overall. The Tigers visit Bethel Park on Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
