The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team wrapped up its trip to Chambersburg with a hard-fought effort in a 58-54 defeat to St. Frances Academy (MD) on Sunday.

The Tigers trailed 33-24 at the half and did their best to rally in the second half thanks in part to an 18-point effort from senior guard Jasmine Timmerson. Junior forward Lydia Betz netted 12 points and senior guard Cam Phillips tallied 11 points in NA’s comeback bid.

Despite NA’s best efforts, St. Frances was able to stave off the Tigers for a 58-54 win, led by senior guard Kimmya Hicks with a team-high 14-point performance. Sophomore Sydney Sutton added 12 points and senior forward Ande’a Cherisier chipped in with 10 points.

North Allegheny now sits at 8-4 overall, while St. Frances Academy improves to 13-2 on the season. The Tigers will return to section play on Thursday with a home game against Hempfield. The contest will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
