Tigers fall short 54-42 against Avon Lake (OH)
North Allegheny was in Akron, Ohio to take part in the second day of the Archbishop Hoban Tournament. The Tigers fell to Avon Lake (OH) 54-42 to cap the weekend tournament.
Things were competitive in the first half as North Allegheny trailed Avon Lake (OH) 17-12 after a quarter of play. Defense reigned supreme in the second quarter as neither team got into double figures. Avon Lake (OH) kept NA at arm’s length though leading 26-21 at the half.
Avon Lake (OH) outscored the Tigers 17-12 in the third quarter and ultimately pulled away for the 54-42 victory.
Vange Balouris had 12 points for North Allegheny. Rosalia Varlotta added 11 points. Rae Shanahan had nine points.
North Allegheny falls to 1-4 overall. The Tigers will return to action when they open up section play on Thursday at Seneca Valley at 7:30 p.m.
