Tigers fall to Fox Chapel in opener

North Allegheny opened the season at UPMC Court taking on the Fox Chapel Foxes. The match was closely contested and it came down to the final bout but the Tigers fell to the Foxes by a score of 42-30.

After falling behind 6-0, Sophia Folks and Media Radford picked up pins to help the Tigers jump out to an 18-6 lead. Fox Chapel won the next three matches to take a 24-18 lead. Carly O’Connell tied the score with a pin before the Foxes took the next two to lead 36-24. Needing a pin to keep North Allegheny alive, Lorelei Bungard got the job done to cut the score to 36-30. NA ultimately fell 42-30.

With a thrilling comeback victory to keep the team alive in the match, Bungard was named the Wright Automotive Wrestler of the Match.

North Allegheny falls to 0-1. The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday when they take part in the Gettysburg Duals at 10:00 a.m.
