Tigers fall to Foxes, 3-0

North Allegheny hosted the Fox Chapel Foxes at Newman Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a rematch of the 2023 WPIAL 4A Championship. Unfortunately for the Tigers, history would repeat itself as Fox Chapel came away with the 3-0 win.

The Tigers got off to a great start as 45 seconds into the match Isabella Costa was fouled right outside the box. Kieran Shannon would take the free kick and put it on net but Fox Chapel keeper Gianna Patterson made the save. A rebound came out and Mia Barsotti jumped on it and took another shot but Patterson once again made another save. Fox Chapel would score five and a half minutes into the first half off a free kick to make the game 1-0. Eight minutes later, it looked as though the Foxes had another golden opportunity when they found themselves on a breakaway but Maggie Nestor made a great save to keep the score where it was. In the 33rd minute, Fox Chapel would score on a penalty kick to make the score 2-0. Near the end of the first half, the Foxes got a steal on a clearing pass and scored on a breakaway from 25 yards out to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room.

North Allegheny had opportunities to cut into the Foxes lead in the second half. Emma Schupanksy and Shannon both came close to scoring in the second half but ultimately the Tigers wouldn’t find the back of the net and fell to Fox Chapel 3-0.

For her all-around performance, Shannon was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game.

North Allegheny falls to 6-4 overall. Fox Chapel improves to 8-0-1 on the season. The Tigers are back in action on Monday with another non-section tilt when they head south to take on Peters Township at 6:00 p.m.
