Tigers fall to Seneca Valley, 47-39
North Allegheny hosted the Seneca Valley Raiders on Tuesday night at UPMC Court in a Section 1-6A contest. It was a tight score throughout the game but the Tigers ultimately fell to the Raiders 47-39.
Seneca Valley scored the first three points of the game before NA got the next four. Tied 4-4, North Allegheny finished the quarter on an 8-0 run to lead 12-4. The run would end up at 10-0 in the second quarter with the Tigers taking a 14-4 lead. Seneca Valley responded with a 9-0 run of their own to cut the score to 14-13. Six was the biggest point differential the remainder of the half and North Allegheny led 24-22 at the break.
In the second half, defense was the theme. Seneca Valley took their first lead since 3-0 early in the third quarter. The lead exchanged hands a couple of times, with the score 39-38 midway through the fourth quarter. The Raiders finished the game on an 8-0 run to win 47-39.
Carter Melzer led North Allegheny with 15 points and was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game. Peter Bratich had nine points.
North Allegheny falls to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in section play. Seneca Valley improves to 2-6 and 1-1 in Section 1-6A. The Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Pine-Richland to take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m.
