Tigers tripped up by State College
by: Jonathan Spina
The North Allegheny Field Hockey team opened the season against State College at North Allegheny Intermediate High School on Saturday afternoon. State College would get the best of the Tigers picking up the 3-0 win.
Both teams kept it close in the first quarter as neither offense was able to get on the board. State College found the back of the net in the second quarter when Laine Herlocher was able to score and State College led 1-0 at the half.
Defense remained supreme in the third quarter as once again no one was able to get through and State College kept the 1-0 lead heading into the final stanza. In the fourth, State College got some breathing room getting goals from Reagan Dare and Lily Sidwell four minutes apart to give the Little Lions a 3-0 lead, which would be the final score.
Kayla Joyce made 33 saves for North Allegheny.
The Tigers fall to 0-1 overall. NA will be back in action on Monday when they host Fox Chapel at Newman Stadium at 7:45 p.m. This game will be broadcasted live on the NA Sports Network.
