Tigers Fall to Wildcats in Final Regular Season Game
The North Allegheny Tigers fell to non-section opponent, the Latrobe Wildcats, in a high-scoring game that finished 12-7.
The Tigers’ offense tallied 11 hits, led by senior Ashley Solenday who homered in the third inning, scoring three. Junior Alaina Whipkey and sophomore Annalyn Isaacs each went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Other offensive standouts include seniors Emily Conlon, who went 3 for 4, and Lauren Haywood, who went 2 for 3.
Haywood took the loss for the Tigers; she pitched five and one third innings, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and one strikeout. Freshman Anne Melle came in to finish the game in the fifth, allowing four runs on seven hits and one strikeout.
The Tigers will play number 2 seed, the Norwin Knights, in the first round of the 6A WPIAL playoffs on Wednesday at Gateway High School. First pitch is at 4:00pm. The game will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
