Tigers finish road stand with sweep of Bethel Park

Rounding out the road trip, the NA swimmers and divers went up against Bethel Park. As they say, records were meant to be broken and NA is the team to do it as Claire Bacu set a new pool record in the 500 Free with a 4:56.99! Underclassman Ryan Crane also clocked his first WPIAL in the 100 Back, posting a 59.19.

It was no walk in the Park at Bethel Park, but the NA divers persevered with both the boys and the girls sweeping 1,2,3. For the boys, Ethan Maravich finished first with 256.35 points followed by Anthony Farrah (238.05) and Colin Metzger (166.05). For the girls, Leah Maiolo finished first with 161.90 points followed by Shreeya Kulkarni (138.55) and Emily Dimond (126.70).

Setting the tone for the meet, the 200 Medley Relay saw the NA Girls sweep 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl. The winning team of Eva Ogden, Emma Dietz, Dani Hinkson, and Bacu posted a 1:55.52. The NA Boys went 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl as well with the fastest team of Gus Miller, Emmanuel Chu, Mason Shantz, and Dylan Seiford clocking a 1:38.18.

The 200 Freestyle saw the NA girls sweep again with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl. NA’s top swimmer, Angelina Li crushed it with a 1:59.68. The NA boys grabbed 1st, 2nd, and 4th PL. Danny Lesinski won with a 1:45.74.

For the 200 IM, the NA girls took 1st, 3rd, and 4th Pl. NA Girls Natalie Reubi won with a  2:17.69. The NA boys swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pl. The Tiger Boys winner was Miller, who swam a 1:57.82.

In an all Freshman 50 Freestyle, the NA girls finished 1st, 3rd, and 4th Pl. The Tigers’ fastest girl, Evey Masztak hit the pad at 25.78. The NA boys also took 1st, 3rd and 4th Pl. NA’s winning swimmer was Grant Regule with a time of 21.51.

In stride, the 100 Butterfly saw NA Girls sweep with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl. NA’s winner, literally flying, was Shelby Sundgren with a PB 1:01.85. The NA boys also swept 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Hitting the wall first was Lesinski with a time of 53.09.

In the 100 Freestyle, the NA girls posted another 1st, 2nd, 3rd Pl. Masztak posted her 2nd win at 56.06. The NA boys also finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd. The Tiger boys fastest was Regule with a 47.73.

The swim of the meet, the 500 Freestyle saw the NA girls sweep 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pl. Putting her name on the wall, Bacu won with a 4:56.99.  The NA boys also swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pl. The NA boys’ best distance swimmer was Nicholas Klein with a 4:48.45

Not being able to wait a minute longer to finally be home, the team put the rest of the meet into exhibition. The 200 Free Relay group won, with Sundgren, Woycheck, Reubi, and Dietz posting a 1:45.04. In the 100 Backstroke, the Tiger girls best finisher was Julianne Weaver with a PB of 1:03.26. The 100 Breaststroke’s best NA swimmer was Woycheck with a 1:13.22, and the top 400 Free Relay of Sundgren, Hinkson, Bacu, and Ogden completed it in 3:50.39.

For the NA Boys, the 200 Free Relay team of Lesinski, Seiford, Totin, and Regule clocked a 1:28.01.  The 100 Backstroke featured Miller with a 51.78. Chu shooting to a 1:00.46 in the 100 Breaststroke and finally Lesinski, Regule, Miller, and Zachary Totin closed the meet with a 400 Free Relay 3:18.27.
