Tigers Ground Black Hawks, 11-7

On a warm April night in the South Hills, the North Allegheny boys’ lacrosse team stayed hot with an 11-7 win over the Bethel Park Black Hawks on Monday. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers who built a 4-1 lead in the first quarter.

Alec Vissotski, Wes Powell, Gavin Hagen and Dillon Dugan all scored first period goals to help NA construct the three-goal advantage. Bethel Park responded in the second period with three straight goals to tie the game at 4-4 with 7:55 remaining before halftime. Dugan and Powell struck again in the second period to give the Tigers a 6-4 lead and NA stayed in front for the rest of the night.

North Allegheny pulled away from the Black Hawks as Vissotski, Hagen, Powell, Peter Barrante and Trevor Saundry all scored in the second half to solidify the win. Vissotski had a big night with 12 ground balls, two goals, an assist, and was 14 of 19 on faceoffs. Senior Trevor Perry had a team-high eight ground balls and added three assists. On defense, junior Greg Ferringer had four forced errors and two ground balls. Jack Kairys returned from a three-game absence with six ground balls and Antonio O’Barto collected four groundballs and two forced errors.

With the non-section win, North Allegheny vaults to 6-3 overall. Bethel Park dips to 4-7 on the season. The Tigers return to section play on Thursday with a big game at Shady Side Academy.
