North Allegheny hosted Hempfield on Friday afternoon at Newman Stadium in a section match and used five first-quarter goals to jump all over the Spartans and come away with a 10-0 victory.

It was all Tigers in the opening frame as NA would get on the board a little over three minutes into the game when Addison Burns found Josie Shomburg to give the Tigers the 1-0 lead. Burns would get rewarded for her assist scoring the next two goals with 9:39 and 7:00 remaining in the first quarter to extend North Allegheny’s lead to 3-0. Mia Brinkley joined the scoring party with her goal with 5:29 left in the quarter and Shomburg would add another one late in the quarter to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead after a quarter.

After a quiet second quarter, the NA offense got back to it in the third quarter when Brinkley picked up her second of the match six minutes into the quarter. Burns would pick up her third and fourth goals of the match less than a minute apart to give NA an 8-0 lead and Shomburg added her third to give NA a 9-0 heading into the fourth quarter. In the final frame, Davia Gross would score two minutes into the period and that would be enough to give the Tigers a 10-0 victory.

Kayla Joyce got the shutout in goal.

North Allegheny improves to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in section play. Hempfield falls to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the section. It’s a quick turnaround for the Tigers as they will be back in action tomorrow at Newman Stadium at 1:30 p.m. when they take on Cumberland Valley. This game will be broadcast live on the NA Sports Network.
