
Tigers on losing side of 72-52 score against New Castle
North Allegheny traveled to New Castle on Friday night to take on the Red Hurricane in the section finale. The Tigers hung in early but ultimately fell to New Castle by a score of 72-52. The win for New Castle clinched the section title.
Things were competitive early on but momentum shifted when the Tigers trailed 13-10 with seconds remaining in the quarter, New Castle’s Ralphie Blundo hit a buzzer-beater three-pointer to give the Red Hurricane a 16-10 lead and momentum. New Castle outscored the Tigers 20-12 in the second quarter, and took a 36-22 lead into the locker room.
In the third quarter, the Red Hurricane pulled away holding the Tigers to eight points in the frame and expanding their lead to 57-30. North Allegheny battled in the fourth quarter, scoring 22 points but ultimately fell 72-52.
Justin Stalter led all scorers with 24 points for North Allegheny.
North Allegheny drops to 7-14 overall and finishes section play with a 2-12 record. New Castle improves to 17-3 overall and finishes section play at 11-3, good enough to win the section title. The Tigers return to action tomorrow when they finish their season taking on Meadville at 6 p.m. at UPMC Court. This game will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
