Senior Connor Casten’s basket with a little over a minute remaining proved to be the difference in a 65-63 win over Central Florida Christian Academy at the Holiday Bash at Butler High School on Thursday night. CFCA had a chance to tie or win the game in the waning seconds but the Tigers defense fended off the Eagles for their eighth consecutive victory.

Casten was one of three Tigers who finished in double figures with 13 points, scoring nine in the second half. Senior Matt McDonough netted a team-high 15 points with five 3-pointers, and sophomore Joey Dopirak tallied 13 points. The NA trio helped the Tigers rally from a 51-46 deficit entering the fourth quarter.

For Central Florida Christian, senior Nick Rodriguez totaled a game-high 16 points, followed by senior Jamar Houston’s 14 points.

North Allegheny improves to 8-0 overall with the non-section victory, while Central Florida Christian slips to 8-3 on the season. The Tigers will return to section play on Tuesday at Butler at 7:30 p.m.
