Tigers Recover From Rough Start To Roll Raiders, 3-1

In a contest between two undefeated teams in Section 1-AAAA, top-ranked North Allegheny earned a 3-1 road win at Seneca Valley on Thursday night. The Tigers dropped the first set, 25-21, but romped over the Raiders in the remaining sets, 25-10, 25-12 and 25-10.

Senior Maddi Curran was a catalyst for the victory, peppering the Seneca Valley defense with 13 kills. Senior Hannah Phillips pounded out 11 kills, senior Abby Miller added nine kills and junior Paige Morningstar tallied seven kills.

The Tigers totaled 15 service aces and 60 digs. Leading the defensive charge was senior libero Malia Duffy with 20 digs. Junior Paige Miller posted 15 digs.

With the win, North Allegheny’s 55th in a row, the Tigers improve to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in Section 1-AAAA. Seneca Valley slips to 3-1 in the section. NA will take on another section unbeaten on Tuesday with a visit to Pine-Richland. The contest will be broadcast live via the internet on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
