Tigers Regain Form, Defeat Warriors

The North Allegheny Varsity Softball Team bounced back from a recent loss and defeated a tough Penn-Trafford team on Saturday afternoon at NASH Field by the score of 5-4 in a well-played game by both teams.

The game featured five lead changes, with the decisive run being scored on a home run by Tiger shortstop Rachel Martindale, her second of the afternoon, in the bottom of inning number five. In all, Martindale drove in four of the North Allegheny runs, with the other RBI coming from winning pitcher Sophia Dollard, who picked up her first Varsity win by scattering nine hits throughout the contest.  North Allegheny also tightened the defense, committing only one error on the day.

The win brings NA’s overall record to 5-2 on the season, while maintaining a 4-1 Section 3AAAAAA record, which puts the Tigers in a first-place tie with Seneca Valley at the midway point of section play. Next up for the Tigers is a journey to Greater Latrobe on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Wildcats. The Tigers return home to face the Shaler Area Titans on Thursday evening in a 7:00 start at NASH Field.
