Tigers Resume Section Play at Home, Beat Hampton 5-0
The Tigers continued Section 2 play Thursday afternoon by hosting the Hampton Talbots. The Tigers prevailed in the contest with a sweep and all matches were completed in straight sets. Most significantly, making their varsity debuts were sophomore Ethan Schenk and freshman Rohan Cowlagi who competed at second doubles. In addition to their first upper echelon contest, the young tandem’s win provided the third and clinching point for the Tigers. The first point came from sophomore Ivan Voinov at number two singles. The second came from senior Jared Isaacs at number one singles. Rounding out play, senior swing man Aamir Khan took the third singles contest while the Anand brothers won at first doubles.
The Tigers improve to 12-2 overall and are now 7-0 in Section 2 play. Monday afternoon, Isaacs, Hofmann, Voinov and Andrew Chuirazzi begin competition for the WPIAL Doubles championship at Norwin High School. Play is scheduled to begin at 12:30 PM
