Tigers Rout Spartans on Senior Night, 17-2

The North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team defeated the Hempfield Spartans, 17-2, on Senior Night at Newman Stadium on Friday.

The game was scoreless through the first nine minutes of the game before the floodgates opened for the Tigers. Senior Leigh Failla broke the ice with 15:51 on the clock, and struck again a minute later, for a 2-0 lead. After the Failla markers, NA was off and running and scored the four goals over the next six minutes to grab a 6-0 advantage. From there, the rout was on for a Senior night blowout.

Failla paced the offense with four goals and an assist. Sophomore Avery Anderson posted a natural hat trick in the second half, while Laurel Donley, Reagan Riordan and Isla Abrams netted two goals apiece. Also touching the score sheet were Keely McMahon-Regan, Maddie Lemmon, Delaney Kennedy and Becka Oates with one goal each. Junior goalie Izzie Trunzo made three saves and was rarely tested as the NA attack dictated the pace of play.

North Allegheny seniors Oates, Donley, Kennedy, Failla, Mila Prusak, Mia Natoli, Taylor Susich, Charlotte Schreiber and Reagan Condo were named the Wright Automotive Players of the Game.

With the non-section win, North Allegheny improves to 7-7 overall. The Tigers will host Mt. Lebanon on Monday for another non-section tune-up in advance of the WPIAL Class 3A playoffs.
