Tigers Skate To 4-1 Victory Over Cathedral Prep
The North Allegheny ice hockey team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 4-1 road win at Cathedral Prep on Thursday night. The win propels the Tigers back into first place in the Class AAA standings, one point ahead of Peters Township.
North Allegheny opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by Bernardo Vieira at the 3:44 mark for a 1-0 lead. Cathedral Prep evened the score at 1-1 thanks to a power-play goal by Jacob Emerson with 10:09 remaining in the second period. Less than five minutes later, the Tigers regained the edge when Will Parreaguirre tallied a goal for a 2-1 advantage.
In the third period, North Allegheny put the game away courtesy of two goals from Aaron Miller, including one empty net goal with 53 seconds remaining, to close out a 4-1 victory. Goalie Richard Karapandi earned the win for the Tigers with 21 saves. Prep’s Nick Dinner made 27 saves in a losing effort.
North Allegheny improves to 4-1-1 on the season with the win. Cathedral Prep falls to 3-2. The Tigers will host Moon on Monday night.
