Tigers Start Season By Sweeping Baldwin
The North Allegheny Tigers Girls Slow-Pitch softball team began their 2013 season with a home double-header against Baldwin High School on Monday, September 2nd at Devlin Field.
In game #1, NA led 4-0 in the bottom of the second when lightning forced a 75 minute delay. Once play resumed, the Tigers picked up right where they began, scoring 3 more runs and they led 7-0 after 2 innings. The final score of game #1 was 9-0. The Tigers’ offensive attack was led by Katelyn Cerutti with a 3-run homerun, Marlee Tyler was 4 for 4, Jess Blendinger was 2 for 4 and scored 2 runs, and Alexis Kruth had an RBI pinch-hit triple. Ally Stroyne gave up just 4 hits in 7 innings and was backed by some great defensive plays by Marlee Tyler at SS and Laura Puntil in LF. Game #2 was forfeited to NA by Baldwin.
