Tigers Sweep Raiders In Section Clash

The North Allegheny girls’ volleyball team took down section rival Seneca Valley 3-0 Tuesday night from UPMC Court. The Tigers won by set scores of 25-11, 25-19 and 25-22.
NA started the first set with a quick 7-0 run aided in part by three aces from senior Macey Casten. Not too long after, the Tigers put together an 8-0 run to take a 15-2 lead in the early stages. During that stretch, junior Reagan Riordan earned back-to-back aces, while senior Bridgit Murphy notched a dump and a block. Sophomore Molly Robertson ended the first set with four kills and an ace while fellow sophomore Alicia Mokube tallied a block and a kill.
Set two was much more back-and-forth between the teams initially. Junior Keely McMahon-Regan played well in front of the net the whole night and had back-to-back dumps to extend the Tiger lead to 12-10. The Raiders and Tigers kept it close until NA opened up a 7-0 run to take a 20-14 advantage. Robertson had three kills in the set, two of which came during that run. Senior Mackenzie Jones had a points off a kill and a dump, while also closing out the set with a block.
Seneca Valley kept set three close, but North Allegheny was up to the task on their home floor. Robertson recorded five kills and a block, while Casten added three kills and a block. Jones and junior Dede Alualu each had aces in the frame.
Casten earned Wright Automotive Player of the Game laurels for her team-leading 20 digs along with three aces and six kills. Robertson led the Tigers with 12 kills and added 10 digs.
North Allegheny improves to 11-0 overall and 7-0 in section play. The Tigers hit the road on Thursday for another section match against North Hills at 7:00 p.m.
