The North Allegheny girls’ soccer team earned its first section win of the season with a 6-0 victory at Newman Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Tiger offense was on display early and often in the matchup, with over 30 shots on goal in the contest. Junior Emma Schupansky was fouled in the box and capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity with 34:46 left in the first half.  With just over 15 minutes remaining in the frame, senior Maddie Miller skyed a free kick from 40 yards out over the North Hills goalkeeper into the top left corner of the goal to improve the lead to 2-0. Roughly three minutes later, sophomore Bella Montgomery stole a loose ball away from the keeper and tapped her team-leading third goal of the season into the net. Senior Rowan Barsotti added a late marker as the Tigers led 4-0 at halftime.

North Allegheny kept the offensive pressure going into the second frame, as Schupansky scored her second of the night with just over 37 minutes left. Junior Averie Bierker rounded out the scoring with 32 seconds left in the match. Senior Maggie Nestor added another clean sheet for her second shutout of the season. Schupansky was named Wright Automotive Player of the Game for her two-goal performance.

North Allegheny improves to 2-1 on the young season and 1-0 in Section 3-4A play. The Tigers hit the road for a non-conference clash against Norwin on Saturday afternoon at 2:00. North Hills falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in section play.
