The fourth-seeded North Allegheny boys’ soccer team advanced to the WPIAL semifinals with a 1-0 win over #12 North Hills at Newman Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The teams saw no scoring in the first half that was dominated offensively by the Tigers.

The momentum intensified heading into the second half. With just under 25 minutes to play, junior Justin Stalter just missed the net on a header chance created by a throw-in from senior Lucas Henderson. NA found the contest’s lone goal when junior Leonardo Yu found the back of the net after yet another throw-in from Henderson. Yu earned Wright Automotive Player of the Game laurels for his efforts.

With the win, NA improves to 16-3-1 overall and advances to play the #1 Plum Mustangs Tuesday night from Gateway High School. The semifinal matchup kicks off at 6:00 p.m. with live audio coverage provided by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
