Tigers Top Talbots For Section Sweep

WEXFORD, Pa. — The North Allegheny swimming & diving teams swept Hampton in a non-section dual meet Tuesday evening in NASH Natatorium. The NA Girls won by a score of 92-82 and the NA Boys won by the score of 98-79.

The NA divers remained dominant as they took top points in both the boys’ and girls’ 1-meter diving.

Zoe Ky had a dominant junior debut Tuesday evening. Ky was the only female to finish over 200 points, finishing with a total of 217.65. This grand opening of her junior diving campaign won her Wright Automotive female diver of the meet.

Maddie Whitewolf had an impressive night, finishing in second with her score of 198.90. Eva Betz finished fifth with a final score of 182.50.

Will Schenk had another phenomenal performance finishing in first place. Schenk won by over 100 points with his final score of 274.35 and remains undefeated in his junior diving season.

Alex Palermo finished second with a final score of 166.20 and Andrew Wasco finished fourth with a score of 103.10.

The boys 200-yard medley relay composed of William Gao, Jacob Jarosz, Riley Williams, and Hayden Klein was the first win of the evening for the Tigers.

Gao’s 50 backstroke split of 25.65, first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (52.88), and second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.40) earned him Wright Automotive male swimmer of the meet.

Eliot Maravich was another strong performer on the boys’ side finishing with a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.34) and third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (55.65), dropping almost five seconds off his seed time.

The NA Boys’ strongest events of the night came from the performances in the second half of the meet.

The Tigers easily swept the 100-yard freestyle with Riley Williams (53.21) finishing first followed by Jake Rechenmacher (53.36) and Sean McClellan (54.10) in second and third.

NA continued the success by turning around and sweeping the 500-yard freestyle. Nicholas Klein finished first with his time of 5:11.17. Asher Jones (5:19.27) and Nico Jacobs-Alacorn (5:30.05) posted strong efforts to finish in second and third.

The quartet of Maravich, Rechenmacher, Williams, and Keller Sens finished the evening with a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The first win for the Lady Tigers came from Isabella Dietz in the 200-yard freestyle clocking in a time of 2:00.27. Dietz also took top points in the 500-yard freestyle finishing with a time of 5:27.69.

The Lady Tigers then continued to dominate as they swept the 200-yard individual medley. Delaney Kennedy finished in first with her time of 2:22.87. Shea Mahon (2:27.00) and Josie Daltorio (2:34.32) finished two-three.

Brooke Glinski had a strong night for NA, placing first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.70) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.48).

Julianne Weaver touched first in the 100-yard freestyle (58.01) while Greta Mott finished first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.59) and Lexi Sundgren claimed first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.17).

Vivien Li won the 100-yard breaststroke with her time of 1:14.49 to send NA into their final race of the evening, the 400-yard freestyle relay.

They relay squad of Marissa Milliron, Kennedy, Ava Sharar, and Dietz finished the night with a first-place clocking in at 3:51.48.

NA will be on the road as they compete at the All-American Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The meet is scheduled to start at 11:00 A.M. on Jan. 14 and 7:30 A.M. on Jan. 15.
