The North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse team won its third consecutive game on Friday night with a 17-10 non-section triumph at Norwin. The Tigers started fast in each half and were sparked by outstanding offensive performances by seniors Mila Prusak and Leigh Failla. Prusak had a seven-point night with five goals and two assists, while Failla tallied five goals and one assist for a six-point effort.

Prusak opened the floodgates for NA in the first half by scoring the first four goals of the night for a 4-0 lead with 22:02 on the clock. After goals by Charlotte Schreiber and Failla made the score 6-2 midway through the half, Norwin fought back and scored four of the next six goals to trim the NA lead to 8-6 by intermission.

North Allegheny began the second half the same way it started the first, with four consecutive goals. Two goals by Failla, and single tallies by Avery Anderson and Schreiber increased the Tigers lead to 12-6 with 19:16 left to play. Keeping to the first half script, the Knights fought back and netted four of the next five goals to trim the score to 13-10, NA, with 6:23 remaining in the game. Freshman attack Karlie Johnson paced the Knights with five goals, including three in the second half.

Despite comeback bid by Norwin, North Allegheny finished strong by scoring the final four goals of the night to close out a 17-10 win.

Helping the Tigers prevail was senior Becka Oates with another strong all-around effort, collecting four groundballs, two goals and an assist. Junior Isla Abrams and senior Delaney Kennedy also scored goals in the win. On faceoffs, Kennedy was dominant and won 17-of-27 draws. Prusak aided in NA’s advantage in possession time with 10 draw controls. In net, freshman Fiola Ragan got the start and picked up her first career win, posting five saves and five groundballs.

With the win, North Allegheny improves to 3-1 on the season. The Tigers return home on Wednesday night for a section matchup with the Shaler Titans. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
