Will Robertson’s buzzer beater pushes Tigers past Bishop Shanahan

North Allegheny took on Bishop Shanahan in the consolation game of the Skip Coleman Tip-Off Tournament at State College High School. It was a tightly contested game but Will Robertson hit a shot as time expired to give the Tigers the 53-51 win on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers got off to a hot start jumping out to a 12-6 lead after a quarter of play. Bishop Shanahan responded with a 19 point second quarter but NA still had the lead 26-25 going into halftime. The third quarter was controlled by the Tigers as they outscored Bishop Shanahan 14-9.

Late in the fourth quarter, North Allegheny led 51-49. Bishop Shanahan’s Sean Griffin tied the game with 7.2 seconds left. The Tigers broke the full court press and got the ball to Robertson who hit the winning basket as time expired to give NA the 53-51 win.

Justin Stalter led North Allegheny with 16 points. Carter Melzer added 12 points. Melzer was named to the Skip Coleman All-Tournament Team.

North Allegheny improves to 2-1 overall. The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday when they return to UPMC Court to take on Northgate in a non-section contest at 7:30 p.m. This game will be broadcasted on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
