BIG SECOND HALF ALLOWS NA TO TOPPLE
PINE-RICHLAND, 10-7

The Lady Tigers rallied from a 4-1 first half deficit for a 10-7 win over Pine-Richland on Wednesday night at Newman Stadium.  North Allegheny fell behind 2-0 early in the game on goals by Devin Donovan and Brit Byerly within the first six minutes of the game.  However, the defense for the Lady Tigers, and most of all the goaltending by Nia Parillo, kept NA within reach in the first half.  Parillo’s outstanding effort throughout the night notched her the Wright Automotive Player of the Game Award by the North Allegheny Sports Network.

North Allegheny senior Sophia Hoover-Grant scored to cut the Rams lead to 2-1, but Pine-Richland answered with back-to-back goals by Monica Ewansik.  The Rams held a 4-1 lead with 5:55 to go in the first half, but that’s when the Lady Tigers began to rally.  NA’s Carly Luitgaarden scored back-to-back goals of her own to cut the deficit to 4-3, and with 52 seconds left in the half, Sarah Hankins netted a goal to tie the game at 4-4.

North Allegheny wasted little time taking control of the game in the second half when Meredith Gumish scored just nine seconds in to give the Lady Tigers a 5-4 lead.  Haley Pritchard quickly made it 6-4 with a goal just over a minute later.  Despite a Hannah Christensen goal by Pine-Richland that cut the score to 6-5, the Lady Tigers rolled off two more goals by Hankins and Hoover-Grant for an 8-5 advantage with 13:13 to play.  Donovan scored her second goal of the night for the Rams at 12:03 in the second half, but NA again answered with a pair of goals, this time by Pritchard and Christine Palmeri with 1:22 remaining to make it 10-5, North Allegheny.  Donovan would score once more for Pine-Richland with just 36 seconds to go, but it was much too late as North Allegheny was well on their way to the victory.

The Lady Tigers improve to 5-4 overall and 3-4 in section play.  Pine-Richland falls to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the section.  North Allegheny will be back in action on Tuesday, April 26 at Quaker Valley.  Face off is slated for 5:30 pm.
