NA concludes season at PTFCA Indoor Championships; Jack Bertram claims state gold

The North Allegheny indoor track & field team finished their season at Penn State University competing at the PTFCA Indoor State Championships on Sunday. Jack Bertram claimed state gold for the Tigers while numerous others had top 10 finishes.
On the boys side, Bertram won state gold in the 3000-meter run winning by three seconds. For the girls, Isabella Costa finished in fourth-place in the 400-meter dash. She also had an eighth-place finish in the long jump. Robin Kucler was the ninth-place finisher in the 3000-meter run. The North Allegheny 4×400-meter relay team of Kendall Lucas, Costa, Elizabeth Pizon and Maya Currie finished in ninth place as well. Lindsay Breneman ended the day in 14th in the pole vault while Taylor Neese was 19th in the shot put.

This concludes the indoor portion of the North Allegheny track & field season. Congrats to head coach John Neff, staff and all athletes on a great indoor season! The Tigers now shift their attention to the outdoor campaign with their first meet scheduled for March 19 at North Hills.
Girls finish runner-up, Boys place third at TSTCA Indoor Championships

The North Allegheny indoor track & field team traveled to Edinboro University for the final time this winter to compete at the TSTCA Indoor Championships. The Tigers put together a great showing medaling in 11 events. The girls finished the day as the runner-ups and the boys ended up in third-place in the team portion of the event.
For the girls, Isabella Costa continued to dominate the winter as she was the gold medalist in the 400-meter dash and long jump. Costa posted a season-best in the 400. Kendall Lucas finished in fifth place in the 800-meter run, posting a season-best. Camille Swirsding had her best run of the winter in the 3000-meter run, good enough for sixth place. The Tigers 4×400-meter relay team won gold while the 4×800 relay team finished in fifth place. Both relays teams ran their best times of the year. Lindsay Breneman was the Pole Vault Champion while Taylor Neese ended the day in sixth place in the shot put.
On the boys side, Conor McNeely took home bronze in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. McNeely ran a season-best in the 200-meter. Sam Cohn placed seventh in the 200-meter. Zach Nash was the 400-meter champion while Greg Abel won bronze in the 800-meter run setting his best time this season. Andrew Peigh finished in seventh in the 3000-meter run while Sam Cohn placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdle, running his top time this season. The NA 4×200-meter relay team ran their best time of the year and took home a bronze medal.

The Tigers will finish up the Indoor Track & Field season next Saturday when they travel to Penn State University to take part in the PTFCA Indoor Championships. Running should kick-off around 10 a.m.

Tigers collect gold at TSTCA Meet #5

North Allegheny returned to Edinoboro University for TSTCA Meet #5 on Saturday morning. The boys had a phenomenal day posting five event wins, two runner-ups and a third-place finish. The girls had a similar day returning with four golds and two bronze medals.
There was a lot of black and gold in the 60-meter dash finals on the boys side as Conor McNeely finished the event in second place while Jack Davis and Rocco Martino finished in fifth and sixth place respectively. The 200-meter had a lot of NA at the top as well as Sam Cohn took home the gold with McNeely 0.1 seconds behind him to finish in second. Zach Nash was the winner of the 400-meter dash with Grey Lowman picking up an eighth-place finish. Sebastian Klimchak ended up in fifth place in the 800-meter run. Jack Bertram dominated the One Mile Run winning the event by 12 seconds while Anthony Miklos was the fifth-place finisher. Jackson Beemer won the bronze medal in the 3000-meter run. After winning the 200-meter, Cohn finished in fifth place in the 60-meter hurdles. North Allegheny won the 4×200 meter relay and the distance medley relay while their 4×800 relay team finished in seventh. Aiden D’Errico had a fourth-place finish in the high jump while Peter Gibson ended the day in fifth in the triple jump.
On the girls side, Isabella Costa kept her great winter going winning the 200-meter dash and long jump along with placing third in the high jump. The Tigers had four top-10 finishers in the 800-meter run as Kendall Lucas finished fourth, Elizabeth Pizon and Mary Lucas finished sixth and seventh respectively and Teresa Pagnotto came in 10th. Abby Gordish came in fifth in the One Mile Run while Gabriela Pizon finished seventh. Camille Swirsding took home bronze in the 3000-meter run. The girls Distance Medley Relay team ended in first place. Emma Neese placed third in the long jump while Taylor Neese was the shot put winner, winning by almost a foot.

That concludes the regular season for the North Allegheny indoor track & field team. The Tigers return to Edinboro next Saturday to take part in the TSTCA Indoor Championships at 10 a.m.
Tigers compete at TSTCA Meet #4

The North Allegheny indoor track & field team traveled to Edinboro University for another Saturday of TSTCA action, this time at Meet #4. The boys and girls had similar days with both picking up two first-place finishes and a third place finish.
On the boys side, the Tigers had two of the top three finishers in the 60-meter dash as Conor McNeely took home first place with Jack Davis coming in third. There were three NA runners in the top five of the 3000-meter run with Jack Bertram winning the event, Andrew Peigh coming in fourth place and Jackson Beemer in fifth. Sam Cohn was the fifth-place finisher in the 60-meter hurdles. North Allegheny’s 4×200-meter relay team had a fourth place finish. In the high jump, Aidan D’Errico finished in fifth. Carter Thomas was the fifth-place finisher in the long jump while D’Errico ended the day in eighth place. Carter Thomas had a sixth-place finish in the triple jump.
For the girls, Isabella Costa continued her strong winter winning gold in the 400-meter dash. Abby Gordish finished 10th in the 800-meter run, while Kendall Lucas and Camille Swirsding came in fourth and sixth respectively in the One Mile Run. The Tigers’ 4×200-meter relay team had a bronze medal finish while the 4×400-meter relay finished in fifth. Emma Neese and Sarah Klinefelter had great long jump performances, finishing in fifth and sixth place respectively. Lindsay Breneman was the winner in the Pole Vault event while Taylor Neese was the sixth-place finisher in the Shot Put.

North Allegheny will take the next week off before returning to action on Saturday, February 15 for TSTCA Meet #5 at Edinboro University.
NA takes on TSTCA Meet #3

The North Allegheny indoor track & field team traveled to Edinboro University and the Mike Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Center to take part in TSTCA Meet #3. The NA girls put together a great performance with three first-place finishes, three second-place finishes and a third-place finish while the NA boys had a first and third place finish.
On the girls side, Isabella Costa continued her impressive winter winning the 200-meter dash again. Kendall Lucas took home the bronze in the 800-meter run. Camille Swirsding ended the day in second place in the 3000-meter run. The NA girls relay teams put on good performances as the 4×200 relay team finished in fifth, the 4×400 relay team took sixth and the 4×800 relay team ended up in fourth. The Distance Medley Relay finished in second place. Along with her 200-meter win, Costa finished second in the High Jump and first in the Long Jump. Lindsay Breneman was the winner of the Pole Vault while Taylor Neese was the bronze medalist in the shot put.
For the boys, Conor McNeely had a sixth place finish in the 60-meter dash. McNeely would also put together a bronze medal performance in the 200-meter dash. Anthony Miklos ended up in fifth place in the One Mile Run. The Tigers were dominant in the Distance Medley Relay beating the field by eight seconds to take home the gold. Peter Gibson finished ninth in Triple Jump.

NA competes at TSTCA Meet

North Allegheny returned to Edinboro University to take part in the TSTCA Meet that was rescheduled from January 4th. The Tigers started to come into form as the NA boys finished with two first-place finishes, four second-place finishes and four third-place finishes. The girls had two first-place finishes and runner-up finish and two third-place finishes.
On the boys side, Greg Gedman was the runner-up finisher in the 200-meter dash. Nathan Cubic finished sixth in the event. The Tigers dominated the 400-meter dash as they had three runners finish in the top seven, Greg Lowman (second), Henry Davis (fourth) and Matthew Eisenreich (seventh). The 800-meter run was a similar performance as Sebastian Klimchak and Zach Nash finished in third and fourth respectively while Nathan Hou took home eighth. The one-mile run saw NA take the top two spots as Andrew Peigh won the event with Anthony Miklos finished four seconds behind him in second. Sergio Abdalah finished eighth in the event. In the 3000-meter run, Jackson Beemer finished in fourth place with Abdalah right behind him in fifth. Sam Cohn was the silver medalist in the 60-meter hurdles with Lowman finishing sixth. The North Allegheny 4×400 meter relay took gold while the 4×200 meter relay finished in eighth place. The Tigers finished in third place in the Distance Medley Relay while coming in fifth in the 4×800 meter relay. The high jump had a lot of NA on the leaderboard with Colton Bradshaw and Aidan D’Errico tying for third place and Spencer Burt finishing in fifth place. Lucas Aglietti ended the day in fifth place in the Pole Vault while Evan Dickert finished in eighth.
For the girls, Myla Benoit finished in seventh place in the 60-meter dash while Maya Currie was the fourth-place finisher in the 200-meter dash. In the 800-meter run, Isabella Costa took home the bronze. Elizabeth Pizon and Camille Swirsding finished in fourth and fifth place respectively in the one-mile run while Juliet Forrest and Elinor Handel finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 3000-meter run. Fourth and fifth was the theme for the Lady Tigers as Elizabeth Davis and Lola Hood finished in those spots in the 60-meter hurdles. The NA girls dominated the 4×200 and 4×400 relays winning the 4×200 relay by three seconds and coming in second place in the 4×400 relay by half a second. The long jump event had a lot of Tigers on the leaderboard as Costa won the event while Sarah Klinefelter and Emma Neese finished in sixth and seventh place. Klinefelter would also go on to finish fourth in the triple jump. Taylor Neese was the bronze medalist in the shot put.

Indoor Track Opens season at TSTCA Meet #2

North Allegheny traveled to the Mike Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Center at Edinboro University to open their season in the second TSTCA Meet of 2025. The girls had a great showing with three gold medals, two silvers and five third-place finishes. The boys ended up with one first-place, second-place and third-place finish each with numerous top 10 finishes.
For the girls, Isabella Costa crossed the finish line first in the 200-meter dash while placing first in the long jump. She also placed fifth in the high jump. Maya Currie and Julianne Faber both had good showings in the 400-meter dash with Currie coming in third and Faber finishing in sixth place. The 800-meter run was littered with Tigers as they had four runners finish in the top eleven, Elizabeth Pizon (second), Kendall Lucas (third), Mary Lucas (sixth) and Abby Gordish (11th). Gordish also finished seventh in the one-mile run. Camille Swirsding took home fifth place in the 3000-meter run. The girls’ 4×200-meter relay team finished in fourth while the 4×400-meter relay and the 4×800-meter relay each ended up with bronze medals. The girls’ distance medley relay team had a fourth-place finish. Lindsay Breneman took home the pole vault title while Taylor Neese was second in the shot put.
On the boys’ side, Conor McNeely took home fifth place in the 60-meter dash. Jack Davis finished eighth. McNeely won the gold in the 200-meter dash. Alex Mitterer Inks Letter Of Intent With Gannon University

North Allegheny senior Alex Mitterer signed his letter of intent on Thursday to continue his academic and athletic career at NCAA Division II Gannon University.
A three-sport athlete, Mitterer is a member of the cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track and field teams. This past fall, Mitterer was a valuable contributor to North Allegheny’s sixth consecutive WPIAL championship in cross country. He finished 62nd at the WPIAL finals with a time of 17:42, helping displace runners from other teams at the event. Mitterer is a three-year letterman in cross country and has been a runner since the seventh grade.
Additionally, the North Allegheny indoor track and field team took second place at the TSTCA championship and the NA boys’ outdoor track and field team garnered third place in the WPIAL Class AAA championship with Mitterer a member of both squads.
At Gannon University, Mitterer will major in Pre-Physical Therapy and will run for the cross country team for the Golden Knights.
