Defense plays big in 19-7 win over Hampton

North Allegheny hosted the Hampton Talbots at Newman Stadium on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers kept their unbeaten streak alive with a 19-7 win.
The Lady Tigers wasted no time establishing a lead. Seniors Luci Zagacki and Vange Balouris connected for an early touchdown, with Balouris successfully tacking on the extra point to set the pace.
As the rain intensified, the passing game became a struggle for both sides. However, the NA defense rose to the occasion, stifling Hampton’s comeback attempts:
Zagacki: Anchored the secondary with an impressive three interceptions.
Sophomore Brynn Hughey: Contributed a key interception of her own.
Senior Danika Hogan: Dominated the line of scrimmage with five tackles and two sacks.
The Tigers found the end zone once more late in the second half. Freshman Macy Sundgren displayed great vision, breaking loose for a rushing touchdown from just outside the red zone to seal the win.
The Lady Tigers return to action at Newman Stadium this weekend:
Opponent: Cathedral Prep
Date: Sunday, April 19
Time: 4:00 PM
