Young took over as a mainstay in the Mariners lineup in 2026, securing the starting second baseman role. Young appeared in 160 games this season, with 157 games at second and the other nine at shortstop. In 1,390.1 innings out in the field this year, Young accumulated 227 putouts and 405 assists in 640 total chances. He also turned 81 double plays while registering a .990 fielding percentage at second base and an .857 mark at shortstop.

According to Brad Everett of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 2026 is the fifth straight year a former WPIAL player has won a Gold Glove.

According to MLB Stats, Young is the third Mariners second baseman to win a Gold Glove Award, joining Bret Boone and Harold Reynolds, who won three each with the club. Young (23 y, 60 d) is also the third-youngest second baseman to win a Gold Glove, behind only Ken Hubbs (1962, 20 y, 107 d) and Hall of Famer Bill Mazeroski (1958, 21 y, 221 d).

Offensively, Young ended the season with a .246 batting average with 17 home runs, 66 RBI, 44 walks, 19 doubles, four triples and 4 stolen bases, leading to 220 total bases. The second-year big leaguer had an on-base percentage of .312 and a slugging percentage of .381.
