Congratulations to seniors Allyson Ruiz and Kyra Schmidt for being selected to play in the Inaugural PFSCA Big 33 HS Girls Flag Football Tournament, being held May 25-26 at Cumberland Valley High School on Chapman Field before the Big 33 Football Classic.  The tournament will highlight the top twenty senior female players from PA, MD, and DC. Ruiz and Schmidt will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers to represent the Western Conference of PA.  The Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and Washington Commanders have also selected the top 20 females for their teams to participate in the two-day tournament.  The event will be televised as well as live-streamed.

Ruiz finished this season with a respectful 32 carries, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.  “Ally’s ability to find open space, create offense and extend plays is remarkable,” said head coach Michelle Ruiz. “She is quick, and makes smart decisions at top speed.”
Schmidt completed 85 passes this season to seven different receivers while only turning the ball over 4 times all season. “Kyra has been extraordinary this year at finding receivers and reading defense,” said coach Michelle Ruiz. “She is poised and consistent even under pressure.”
Both Ruiz and Schmidt will be furthering their athletic abilities, Ruiz will play soccer at High Point University in North Carolina and Schmidt will play volleyball at Indiana University of PA in the fall.
The coaches for the Big 33 Western Conference will be: Jason Russell, Moon HS, Chris Curd, Ellis School, Rob Heinrich, Shaler HS, and Michelle Ruiz, North Allegheny HS.
