(Wexford, PA – Jan. 1, 2023) A 2018 North Allegheny graduate, Canyon Tuman helped the boys’ volleyball team complete a 23-0 season that ended with the school’s sixth state PIAA championship. In the Championship Game, Tuman led the Tigers with 16 kills. During the WPIAL Championship Game, Tuman surpassed Tommy Kiesling’s school record of all-time kills with 1,232. The new record now stands at 1,295. Tuman also ranks second in career aces at North Allegheny with 139 and third in blocks with 267. He was named Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Boys Volleyball Player of the Year his senior year and also named to the Volleyball Magazine Fab 50, voted by NCAA Division I and Division II coaches.

Canyon continued his volleyball career at Penn State University. During his freshman year, he was selected to USA Volleyball Men’s Junior National Team for Pan Am Cup in Chile. In a Covid shortened season of 2020, Canyon played in nine total matches with seven starts in the first eight matches of season. His junior year he started all 25 matches. In his senior year at Penn State, he tallied 23 kills in six matches.

Canyon will compete as a graduate student at St. Francis University (Brooklyn) in the 2023 season.
