Former North Allegheny offensive lineman and graduate student at the University of Notre Dame, Josh Lugg, has been invited to the Chicago Bears Rookie Mini-Camp.

Lugg most recently completed his fifth year on the gridiron for the Fighting Irish, starting and playing in all 13 games at right guard on the offensive line. He helped the Irish average 4.6 yards per carry during the 2022 season and rack up 2,457 total rushing yards. The Irish finished the season with 25 total rushing touchdowns as the offense averaged 31.77 points per game. Lugg helped clear the way for seven games of 220+ yards rushing, with four games of 260+. The Irish ranked 16th nationally in least TFLs allowed per game. Lugg honored as part of the Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll and was named the 2022 Notre Dame Inaugural Father Ted Man of the Year.

At North Allegheny Lugg recently received first-team all-state honors as a senior at the conclusion of the 2016 season. Lugg anchored the left tackle position for an NA offense that averaged 35 points per game. In particular, the North Allegheny rushing attack was bolstered by Lugg’s blocking, a unit that churned out 275 yards rushing per contest.

On defense, Lugg was an imposing presence as well. The senior lineman made 18 tackles, four for a loss, and collected three sacks. Lugg was a two-year starter for the Tigers and instrumental in the team’s 9-3 season in 2016 and appearance in the WPIAL semifinals. Lugg also represented the Tigers in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas on Jan. 7, 2017.

Congratulations to Josh Lugg and best of luck at Chicago Bears mini-camp.
