The North Allegheny defense continued to roll as the Tigers posted their fourth and fifth shutouts of the season defeating Deer Lakes, 19-0 and blanking Nazareth Prep, 35-0 on Wednesday night.

Wednesday was the Pittsburgh Steelers Highlight Games of the Week at Newman Stadium.  Steely McBeam and Pittsburgh Steelers’ tight end Pat Frierermuth attended the games along with the Pittsburgh Steelers Social Media Team.  It was also Senior Salute Night for our two seniors Macey Casten and Leah Skweres who were honored before the first game on the field with their parents.
Against Deer Lakes, the Tigers defense was prowling the field for tackles and turnovers. Juniors Maddie Williams, Luci Zagacki and Vange Balouris led the team with three tackles each.  Off the rush from speedy junior Danika Hogan, Zagacki (2) , Macey Casten and Mia Bosley contributed key interceptions.  Casten also completed eight passes for three touchdowns and an extra point conversion. Williams, Bosley and Skweres all found the end zone.
In the Nazareth Prep game, Casten completed 10 passes to four different receivers for touchdowns and extra point plays.  Williams, Zagacki, Bosley, and sophomore Taryn DeWitt all scored touchdowns.  Balouris intercepted a pass for a pick six in the first two minutes of the game to put the Tigers on the board and Hogan led the defense with three tackles.
North Allegheny improves to 5-1 overall. The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, April 27 when they travel to Cupples Stadium on the South Side of Pittsburgh to take on Carrick and Brashear at noon and 1 p.m.
Congratulations to our seniors on a memorable night at Newman Stadium.
