By: Jared Barton
Former North Allegheny girls’ lacrosse standout Amelia Henderson is earning accolades at the next level.
This week, the junior was named the PAC Defensive Player of the Week for Women’s Lacrosse. She led the Gators to a 2-0 week to earn the No. 6 seed in the PAC Tournament with wins over Geneva (22-1) and Bethany (23-10.) Henderson helped the defense limit Geneva to just one goal while scoring twice with two caused turnovers and four ground balls and then held Bethany to just two second-half goals, as the Gators ran away from the Bison in the final 30 minutes. She collected six ground balls with two caused turnovers in the regular-season finale.
To this point in the season, Henderson has started all 16 games, with 64 ground balls and 39 caused turnovers. The Gators head to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, April 29, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup against Chatham University in the quarterfinal round of the PAC Championship Tournament.
The junior has been a mainstay in the lacrosse landscape since starting at Allegheny, earning All-PAC First Team recognition last season and All-PAC Second Team laurels as a freshman in 2023.
