Matt McDonough Named To All-AMCC Team, Headed To NCAA DIII Basketball Tournament

Penn State Behrend senior and former North Allegheny basketball standout Matt McDonough has been named to the All-AMCC Second Team for the third season in a row.
McDonough has scored double-digit points in 14 games this season, registering 20 or more points in four contests. He led the team in scoring in four games while leading the team in assists in 15 games. McDonough ranks third on the team in points per game with 11.2. He leads the team and ranks third in the AMCC with 83.5 percent shooting from the free-throw line. McDonough is dishing out 3.2 assists per game to rank sixth overall in the AMCC. He was also named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team this past weekend.
The Lions won the AMCC Men’s Basketball title over Pitt-Greensburg 66-61 to earn the conference’s automatic qualifier to the DIII NCAA Tournament. McDonough had 10 points, five assists and two steals in the championship game Saturday.
Penn State Behrend travels to play the fourth-ranked University of Chicago Maroons out of the UAA on Friday in first-round action. Tipoff for that matchup is slated for 8:10 p.m.
