NA Girls Earn State Runner-Up Finish At PTFCA Championship

The North Allegheny girls’ indoor track and field team finished as state runners-up at the PTFCA Indoor State Championship at Penn State University on Sunday. The Lady Tigers totaled a team score of 36, just two points shy of state champion Friends’ Central. The NA Boys tallied 10 team points and finished in a tie for 19th place out of a field of 76 schools.

The Lady Tigers were paced by a strong performance in the 3000m Run where junior Wren Kucler won gold with a time of 9:51.56. Wren’s twin sister Robin Kucler claimed silver with a time of 9:53.38 and senior Eva Kynaston took fifth place in the event. The Kucler sisters excelled in the One-Mile Run as well as Wren Kucler placed fourth with a time 4:58.58 and Robin Kucler earned a fifth-place showing with a time of 5:00.60.

Other top performances were delivered by sophomore Mackenzie Winning (8th place) and junior Isabella Costa (9th place) in the 400m Dash. Senior Sophie Aglietti took 14th place in the Pole Vault, followed by sophomore Lindsay Breneman‘s 15th place showing in the same event. The 4×400 relay team was also impressive with a fifth-place effort.

For the NA Boys, junior Jack Bertram won state gold in the 3000m Run with a time of 8:30.35. Senior Zach Duckworth checked in with a 10th place performance in the Pole Vault. For a look at all of the results from the PTFCA Indoor State Championship, click here.
