NA Opens 2020 With Impressive Win Over Blackhawk
The long-awaited start of fall sports arrived on Thursday and the North Allegheny girls’ golf team opened the 2020 campaign with a convincing victory, 169-186, over Blackhawk in section action. A year ago, the Cougars swept the season with the Tigers but were turned away by the black and gold in the season opener.
Sophomore Katie Rose Rankin was the clubhouse leader at Pittsburgh North Golf Course with a low score of 41. Junior Sissi Hai and sophomore Lauren Kardos each shot a 42 and senior Yunshu Li carded a 44. Blackhawk was paced by Hailee Liptak and Vanessa Matthews, who each totaled a team-best 45.
North Allegheny will enjoy the victory over the weekend and look for a second straight section win on Monday against Seneca Valley at 3:00 p.m.
