
NA splits at New Castle
The North Allegheny girls flag football team traveled to New Castle High School on Sunday afternoon to take on the Red Hurricanes and Shaler. The Tigers posted their third shutout of the year defeating New Castle, 27-0, before falling to Shaler, 33-6.
In the first game against New Castle, Leah Skweres found the end zone twice while Luci Zagacki and Vange Balouris also scored touchdowns. Senior Macey Casten completed 10 passes to four different receivers. Maddie Williams led the team defensively with three tackles and Mia Bosley intercepted two passes.
In game two, a battle with Shaler. Skweres scored her third touchdown of the day. Bosley and Balouris each had interceptions in the game but NA struggled to get in the end zone and stop Shaler’s short game offensively.
North Allegheny’s record is now 3-1. The Lady Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, April 16 when they return to Newman Stadium to take on Deer Lakes at 6:30 p.m. and Nazareth Prep at 7:30 p.m. This is the Steelers Showcase Games of the Week.
