North Allegheny senior Sophie Aglietti signed her letter of intent on Wednesday afternoon to continue her academic and athletic career at Sacred Heart University.

Aglietti has been a pole vaulter on the indoor and outdoor track and field teams since her sophomore year. She was also a three-year member of the North Allegheny gymnastics team and spent her senior season as a team manager to focus on track.

During her 2023 indoor track season, Aglietti finished in second place at the TSTCA indoor championships at Edinboro University. In the spring of 2023, Aglietti was part of the North Allegheny girls’ squad that won the WPIAL championship. She also placed seventh overall at the WPIAL individual championship in the pole vault at Slippery Rock University.

So far during her senior campaign, Aglietti placed third overall at the TSCTA indoor championships and qualified for states. At the PFTCA championships, Aglietti placed 12th overall and was part of the Tigers team that finished in second place at the event. Shortly after, Aglietti attended the Nike Indoor Nationals at the Armory in New York City where she finished in eighth place.

Aglietti will study Exercise Science at Sacred Heart University and plans on becoming a physical therapist in the future. She is pictured above with her parents Bob and Daphne Aglietti, and her brother Lucas.
