Tigers Take 2nd Place at WPIAL Class 3A Championship

Appearing in the WPIAL Class AAA finals for the second consecutive season, the North Allegheny girls’ golf team earned a second-place finish at Cedarbrook Red Golf Course in Belle Vernon on Thursday. The Tigers carded a team score of 330, just two strokes shy of first-place Peters Township.

North Allegheny was paced by senior Katie Rose Rankin’s score of 77, which was the second lowest of all golfers on the day. Junior Megan Manesiotis shot a career-best score of 79 for the Tigers. Both Rankin and Manesiotis were on fire down the stretch, each shooting an outstanding 38 on the back nine.

Senior Lauren Kardos tallied a score of 85 and junior Amber Roth posted a career-low score of 89 to round out the scoring.  South Fayette’s Marissa Malosh had the top score on the day with a 70. For a look at all scores from Thursday’s championship event, click here.

Up next is the PIAA individual championship on Oct. 17-18 as Rankin will represent the Tigers at Penn State University.
